Hi guys today another quick one, this time about RDP rough connections

Have you even noticed that when you are connecting to an RDP server ( licensed & with multiple connections) You may need to map your local printer in certain scenarios as for example an RDP external wich uses an IP public address, and of course we cannot map that beloved local printer due NO VPN, etc., so … let’s crack on the issue

 

Firstly when we advertise the issue check the LNK archive first as well known as the RDP file where this following options must be activated on local resources

Secondly, if these options are properly configured then check the server

Windows 2008

  1. Start” > “Administrative Tools” > “Remote Desktop Services” > “Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration“.
  2. Connections“, right-click the name of the connection > “Properties” > “Client Settings” > “Redirection“. Ensure that “Windows Printer” is not checked.

Windows 2012 & R2

  1. Open “Server Manager“.
  2. Select “Remote Desktop” Services.
  3. Select “Collections“.
  4. Select “Tasks“, then choose “Edit Properties“.
  5. Under the “Client Settings” tab, ensure the “Windows Printer” is enable
