In Windows 2016 server enhanced mode is disabled by default. Also, there are some previous requirements to be accomplished in order to enable it on your VMs.
This will allow you to utilize resources on the computer where VMConnect is running. For example, with enhanced session mode enabled, a VM can send print jobs to the host system’s printer, log on using its smart card reader, share clipboard data, play or record audio, adjust the screen resolution, or access the host’s drives.
Requirements:
To use enhanced session mode:
- The host system must be running Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, or Windows 8.
- The VM must be Generation 2 and be running Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 10, or Windows 8.1 as the guest operating system.
- Remote Desktop must also be enabled in the System Properties sheet.
Procedure
Firstly we will activate the following option on our hyper-v server ( hyper -v settings menu )
Inside the hyper-v settings, we shall go on enhanced session mode policy and tick on the “allow option”
Once we have done this. On the following VMS’s will appear a new brand option as follows & will ask to configure the desired resolution
Also, we can switch over to the old model with the following button ( the last icon )
